Flights to and from Melaleuca
We’re well known for our reliable air service to Melaleuca in Tasmania’s Southwest National Park.
Our aircraft drop-off and pick-up passengers at Bathurst Harbour Airstrip at Melaleuca. This service gives bushwalkers direct access to the South Coast Track to walk to/from Cockle Creek, or to the Port Davey Track to walk to/from Scotts Peak.
For convenience and flexibility, our flights depart every day from Cambridge/Hobart Airport – subject to weather and demand. We can also tailor a charter flight to meet your needs.

Bathurst Harbour boat transfers
We operate a fast and reliable passenger boat service from Melaleuca Creek, right next to the airstrip. We pick up and drop off at various locations within the Bathurst Narrows/Port Davey area. This includes Schooner Cove – a popular place to start the South Coast Circuit.
Why not include a boat tour as part of your bushwalk? It’s the best way to see the majestic Bathurst Harbour before starting the South Coast Track. Your trip will be truly memorable!

We have National Park Passes available for $41.20 per person (2-month holiday pass).
Walking the Port Davey / South Coast Tracks and need some food or supplies half-way?
Par Avion can arrange to drop your package off at the Melaleuca Airstrip for you to collect when you arrive.
Simply drop off your package at the Par Avion Terminal before you depart with your name and required delivery date clearly marked, and our experienced team will do the rest.
$5.50 per kilo, minimum spend of $10 required.
As fuel is unable to be taken onboard our aircraft for safety reasons, we have shellite, methylated spirits and 230g butane gas canisters for cooking available at Melaleuca. Simply bring your own empty fuel bottle for shellite and methylated spirits (empty gas canisters cannot be refilled). Pre-purchase your required fuel at our office before departure. Once you arrive at Melaleuca our staff will fill up your empty fuel bottle or hand over your purchased butane gas canisters.

Many walkers appreciate the security of carrying a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB, or EPIRB) to activate in the event of a life-threatening emergency. PLBs can be hired from Service Tasmania shops (Mon-Fri only) in Hobart, Launceston, Burnie and Devonport. Phone 1300135513 for further information or visit the Parks website.
