Par Avion has a strong reputation for reliable air service to Melaleuca. In fact, we operate the most number of flights into the Southwest National Park year after year!
Dropping off and picking up at Melaleuca, we give passengers direct access to the South Coast Track to Cockle Creek or Port Davey Track to Scotts Peak.
For convenience and flexibility, our flights depart every day from Cambridge Airport. We can also tailor a custom flight to meet your needs.
Bathurst Harbour boat transfers
Par Avion operates a reliable passenger boat service at Melaleuca. These are available to be booked by your group with prior arrangement and can drop off at various locations within the Bathurst Narrows/Port Davey area, such as Schooner Cove (a popular place to start the South Coast Circuit).
Why not include a boat tour as part of your bushwalk? It’s the perfect opportunity to see the majestic Bathurst Harbour from the water before starting the South Coast Track, and a great way to start a memorable trip.

Transport to and from Cockle Creek by road
Tasmanian Wilderness Experience provides an excellent road transport service to Cockle Creek from Hobart (including Hobart Airport)

Walking the Port Davey / South Coast Tracks and need some food or supplies half-way?
Par Avion can arrange to drop your package off at the Melaleuca Airstrip for you to collect when you arrive.
Simply drop off your package at the Par Avion Terminal before you depart with your name and required delivery date clearly marked, and our experienced team will do the rest.
$5.50 per kilo, minimum spend of $10 required.
As fuel is unable to be taken onboard our aircraft for safety reasons, we have shellite, methylated spirits and 230g butane gas canisters for cooking available at Melaleuca. Simply bring your own empty fuel bottle for shellite and methylated spirits (empty gas canisters cannot be refilled). Pre-purchase your required fuel at our office before departure. Once you arrive at Melaleuca our staff will fill up your empty fuel bottle or hand over your purchased butane gas canisters.
Gas canisters: $15.00 per 230g canister methylated spirit & shellite: $6.00 per litre

Par Avion has partnered with Tasmanian Hikes and Tasmanian Expeditions to provide guided walks of the South Coast Track. Upgrade your experience in the Tasmanian wilderness and have someone help you along the way! Contact us for more information.
Many walkers appreciate the security of carrying a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB, or EPIRB) to activate in the event of a life-threatening emergency. PLBs can be hired from Service Tasmania shops (Mon-Fri only) in Hobart, Launceston, Burnie and Devonport. Phone 1300135513 for further information or visit the Parks website.
Regretfully, we don’t have PLBs available for hire here at Par Avion.
